Full Gallop's 3rd Annual Louisiana in Texas
7:30 PMMiller Outdoor Theatre, 6000 Hermann Park Dr, Houston, TX, 77030
FREE SHOW THIS SATURDAY! Full Gallop Presents the 3rd Annual Louisiana in Texas, a celebration of music and culture that flows between the Texas and Louisiana border. Get ready, Houston, this year, we’re turning it all the way up! Louisiana in Texas returns to Miller bigger and bolder than ever, and we’re bringing the spirit of New Orleans straight to you! Headlining this year’s festival is the legendary Big Sam’s Funky Nation, direct from the Crescent City, delivering an electrifying mix of funk, soul, brass, and beyond that you have to feel to believe. But the music is just the beginning. This year’s event is also a proud celebration of Creole Heritage Month, honoring the rich traditions and incredible contributions that Creole culture has made to the musical history of the Louisiana-Texas border. From zydeco rhythms to soulful blues, this region’s sound is one of a kind – and we’re here to celebrate every note of it. Houston’s own Zydeco powerhouse, Keyun & the Zydeco Masters, kick off the show. Keyun Dickson started playing accordion at the age of 3 in his hometown of Humble, TX. He started his band, Keyun & the Zydeco Masters, over 20 years ago. He’s received many accolades over the years including being crowned the first Zydeco winner of Texas Folklife’s Big Squeeze in 2010. His fanbase is strong in Houston but spreads throughout all of Texas, Louisiana and beyond. He’s excited to return to the Miller Outdoor Theatre stage. Whether you’re a longtime Louisiana music lover or discovering it for the first time, this is a free, family-friendly event you won’t want to miss. Full Gallop strives to bridge cultures and connect communities through creative collaborations and programs. We are sponsored on this project by Fresh Arts who empower local artists through programs that build knowledge, amplify local resources, and connect communities through art.
